BODY AESTHETICS

Body Aesthetics

A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. If you desire a tighter, flatter abdomen, then a tummy tuck may be appropriate to help you achieve your goals. A tummy tuck removes excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall. We offer an endoscopic, mini, standard, extended, and circumferential abdominoplasty to address patients of diverse shapes and sizes with unique needs. Once Dr. Capizzi examines you, he will be able to determine which type of tummy tuck is best for your individual needs. The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal. Loss of skin elasticity in older patients, which frequently occurs with slight obesity, can also be improved.

The incisions are located inconspicuously within the bikini line and the belly button. Liposuction may be used in conjunction with this procedure at the discretion of the surgeon, considering the body wall thickness, type of abdominoplasty, and goals of the patient. The surgery is done under general anesthesia, as an outpatient procedure. Many tummy tuck patients, especially those visiting the Charlotte area, take advantage of our overnight arrangements at Presbyterian Huntersville Hospital.

Following tummy tuck surgery, our patients typically return to full, normal activity within one week. Most patients resume more strenuous activity two to three weeks after surgery. Patients arrive home with minimal dressings and an elastic girdle which they wear for approximately two weeks. Scars generally fade several months to a year following surgery. Laser treatments can help minimize scarring and redness.
